# Three theses defended in Applied Physics

Congratulations to three students from the Laboratory of Systems Biology who defended their theses in TalTech's Applied Physics programme between 3 and 5 June.

Cärolin Grahv defended her master's thesis, *A Bayesian approach for super-resolution microscopy image reconstruction*. Supervised by Martin Laasmaa and Marko Vendelin, her work developed and evaluated a Bayesian model for locating fluorescent emitters in single-molecule localization microscopy images, comparing it with a frequentist approach.

Janeli Kaelep defended her bachelor's thesis, *Mitochondrial arrangement in cardiac muscle cell of creatine deficient mice*. Supervised by Marko Vendelin, her work investigated how mitochondria are arranged in heart muscle cells from creatine-deficient mice.

Ralf Magnus Palmiste defended his bachelor's thesis, *Mathematical modelling of cardiomyocyte calcium dynamics in creatine-deficient mice*. Supervised by Martin Laasmaa, his work adapted a mouse cardiomyocyte model to investigate changes in calcium dynamics associated with creatine deficiency.
